Valuable Maintenance Tips For a Stacker Trailer

A stacking car trailer, also known as a ‘stacker’ is widely used to haul multiple vehicles. However, like all of the other vehicles, even the best stacker trailers for sale also need to be well taken care of in terms of maintenance. Here are some valuable tips for the same:

1.The main part that comes after you buy stacker trailers is lift maintenance. The lift will not be able to operate properly and there will also be no stacking’ of anything without a fully operational hydraulic system. This is exactly why you must always check and maintain the 12v batteries that are responsible for operating the hydraulic pump for the lift. Usually, there are a minimum of (2) batteries associated with a stacker trailer and both of them need to be maintained properly. Most of them are low maintenance in nature and require only little work other than to keep the connections clean and free of deposits.

2.Along with the batteries, you also need to keep a close eye on the hydraulic hoses and connectors. If you notice a hydraulic fluid leak, you must seek the advice and service of a professional at once. The hydraulic systems are very sensitive and also require the use of special tools and a dust free environment to be opened and repaired. On most stacker trailers, the batteries and the pump are in the same location which makes it extremely simple to perform maintenance on both.

3.In the case of most trailers, and also the most important while hauling a large stacker trailer, tire pressure is crucial. Because the stacker trailer is tall enough to stack two vehicles on top of each other, keeping a close eye on the tire pressure is very important for safe travel. The stackers can be easily affected by wind shifts and passing traffic which is why tire pressure is important to look upon for the overall handling of this type of trailer at the highway speeds. The tire pressure can change up to 10 pounds overnight, so if in case you stop somewhere for the night, make sure you check them before heading back out the next day.
