Maintenance Tips For Your Enclosed Trailer With Living Quarters

Living in a trailer means you have to pay attention to its maintenance from time to time. Whether you have purchased an enclosed trailer with living quarters or customized it in your own way, regular maintenance ensures the long life of the trailer.

Luckily, maintenance of a trailer isn’t a difficult deal, you only have to pay attention to certain things, that we have mentioned here:

A regular wash
As washing isn’t possible daily, a proper wash once or twice a week keeps your trailer clean. While washing, make sure to not use a pressure washer but a hose. Also, you can use a liquid car wash with warm water. This protects polished wave panels and colored sheets of your living quarters. As you already know rusting is a common problem, use steel wool or sandpaper to remove them. When the trailer is dry, apply rust-proof paint on the affected spots.

Lighting
Make sure to test lights when your living quarters trailer is hitched to your tow vehicle. This is a two men job. Ask a person to confirm the lights when you activate the lights. Similarly, check by activating two or two systems at the same time. Though the job seems time-consuming, it is important when you travel at night. After all, everyone’s safety is the first priority. Also, don’t forget to examine the trailer’s connector.

Tires
Properly inflated tires not only save money on fuel but also keep unexpected happenings at bay. Before inflating tires, check the correct PSI to be sure how much much pressure is required. Next, you have to check the depth of the tread, which should be at least 2/32” deep. You can measure it using a tread depth gauge. In case, any of your trailer’s tires need to be replaced, make sure to replace all of them at once. When there is a difference between tires, it becomes harder to properly handle the trailer.
